The selection process for admission to MEPLEM occurs biennially and consists of the following instruments:
1) Written Exam (Weight 02 / Eliminatory)
The written exam covers topics related to Education in foreign/additional languages and will assess the candidate's analytical ability, as well as their ability to propose solutions to professional practice situations. Only candidates who score 7.0 (seven) or higher will be classified. The exam will last 02 hours (120 minutes).
2) Foreign Language Proficiency Exam (Weight 01 / Eliminatory)
The texts for the exam will be in the foreign language chosen by the candidate (English or Spanish), but the answers must be written in Portuguese. Only candidates who score 7.0 (seven) or higher will be classified. The exam will last 02 hours (120 minutes). Proficiency exams will only be corrected for candidates who score 7.0 (seven) or higher on the written exam.
3) Letter of Intent (Submitted at the time of registration)
The candidate must submit a text explaining their reasons for pursuing a professional master's program; contextualizing their workplace (which normative documents govern their context, how pedagogical work is organized, what their tasks are in this context, and what instruments mediate this teaching); describing problem situations in their context (inadequacies, unmet demands, gaps); pointing out possible educational products that could specifically address the reported problems that motivate their research; and mentioning possible research opportunities aligned with their professional context. The text should also include the teaching modality in which the research will be developed, the subject/area, the focus (reading, writing, speaking, etc.), or other relevant information to understand their interest in applied research in teaching.
4) Oral Defense (Weight 02 / Classificatory)
The oral defense will focus on the letter of intent, the candidate's interests for the final project, and their curriculum.
5) AAnalysis of the Lattes Curriculum and Scoring Form (Weight 01 / Classificatory)
The scoring form evaluates four areas: administrative experience, academic experience, bibliographic production, and technical production. The evaluation board, in a reserved session, will verify the score previously assigned by the candidate on the form, confirming or correcting it as necessary.
